Molten Salt Heater

Model / Series RY(Q)

Uses a molten salt mixture such as potassium nitrate and sodium nitrite. The system includes a heater, salt pump and melting system; powers span 500–8200 kW.

Powdered salt is heated above its melting point until its viscosity permits pumping, then circulated through the heater for further heating and use. The table lists working pressure 0.8 MPa, design pressure 1 MPa and outlet temperatures of 430 or 450 degrees by model.

Design and features

Multilayer coils

Double- or multilayer coils are secured by welded round steel. Radiant and convective sections are configured for heat transfer, with radiant-section flue-gas temperature monitoring.

Top protection and insulation

Top coils protect the furnace wall. Double-layer aluminum-silicate insulation is described as limiting surface temperature to 25 degrees above room temperature.

Split delivery

Upper and lower sections are transported separately and assembled on site.

PLC control and remote connectivity

Automatic combustion regulation is interlocked with expansion-tank level, inlet/outlet temperatures and flow monitoring. Unattended operation, a remote app and DCS integration can be configured.

Calculation basis: lower heating values of 8400 kcal/Nm³ for natural gas and 10250 kcal/kg for diesel. Y denotes oil firing and Q denotes gas firing.
